AIR-POT Root Pruning Tree Pot Kit 20L, 355mm diam, 315mm high
For plants to thrive they need healthy roots; standard pots deform roots encouraging the development of ring-roots which compromises the long term growth and health of the plant. The Air-Pot® system does the opposite, actively enhancing the plant by making it develop a mass of healthy fibrous roots. This maximises its ability to absorb nutrients and water, leading to a healthier, faster growing plant.
AIR-POT® encourages natural radial root development resulting in the planted trees growing a uniform radial root system in all directions as they would in nature. In contrast, radial roots that can develop in hard-walled pots may end up wrapping around the base of the trunk, constricting the trunk, impeding growth and ultimately leading to early death of the tree or even unexpected breakage of the trunk at the base of the tree.
- Approx. assembled size of the 20L pot: 355mm in diameter x 315mm high
- Allows nurseries to hold tree stock for longer before re-potting
- Supplied with plastic joining screws (green connectors in photos)
- Made in Scotland from UV stabilised recycled plastic
- nb: internal base colour may vary; often indicates size of the pot
Tips for growing with Air-Pot®
- It’s important to pack the potting medium evenly into all corners of the pot; a much finer potting mix is typically used as the pot design provides adequate aeration.
- A plant in an Air-Pot® will dry our much faster than standard pots. Daily watering on warm days or ideally a dripper/spray system is advised.
The ground-breaking design of the Air-Pot® container has been continually refined over twenty years and is now in its sixth generation. Every detail has been enhanced to guarantee healthy root development and maximise aeration. Tough & robust they are constructed from recycled plastic; Air-Pot® containers can last up to ten years or more even throughout hot Australian summers.
“Air-pot containers have revolutionised the way we grow trees for the iCONic project – it is a dynamic system that allows us more flexibility than conventional pots and produces superior plants”
Tom Christian – Royal Botanic garden, Edinburgh
iCONic is a world-leading conservation project based in Scotland that aims to save some of the world’s most remarkable trees from extinction.

Stock Control & Pricing Breaks
Our webstore now indicates an approximate level of items in stock. This is indicated as quantity breaks as follows: 1+, 6+, 12+, 36+, 100+, 250+, 500+, 1000+, 2000+ and 3000+. For example: if we have 5 ARS Florist Scissors in stock this would display as 1+ — if there are 47 in stock it will indicate 36+. As another example: if we have 14,960 Fluted Tree Guards in stock this would indicate as 3000+. The quantity also indicates the number of items as described by the product description; so Florist Scissors are sold individually whereas the 10L Carton Tree Guard is sold in boxes of 150 – in the later case 100+ items refers to 100+ boxes of 150 (or over 15,000 Carton Tree Guards in stock).
Please note: our webstore stock levels are accurate to within the last hour; if you order an item that has since sold out, we will promptly notify you as to when your order will be fulfilled. Some items may be indicated as Special Order items or display a custom message as to when stock is due.
Pricing breaks: many items in our store display pricing breaks. The number of items indicated in pricing breaks can vary a lot between different products. Often with horticulture tools such as secatuers and loppers, the pricing breaks may relate to the number of items in a box or total number of items in a carton; so if you need several secateurs, and order per box or carton, you save more as we save time packing your order. Items such as tree guards, bamboo canes and hardwood stakes often have price breaks set to fill a standard palette size; thus savings or efficiency gains are made in the storage and transport of these items.
